Ride For Life on the MUG Dominion Bike Ride - 5th October 2014

Get on your bike this October and help raise money for MUG - Guernsey's male cancer charity.

The second MUG Dominion Bike Ride takes place on 5th October 2014. 95 per cent of the route is off-road and will take riders along 12 miles of beautiful coastal paths. It will take around two hours to complete and makes a great day out for the whole family*.

This year cyclists are being asked to ride for a loved one or friend. This might be in support of someone who is undergoing treatment for cancer or perhaps someone in memory of someone who lost their battle with the disease. Riders will have the opportunity to write a personal message on their number bib, which will be supplied to participants.

Riders will start at Saumarez Park and will follow the path to Grandes Rocques, then on to Rousse and L'Ancresse then Bordeaux before finishing at Vale Castle where there will be food, refreshments and music to refuel and relax.

Like the last event in 2012, there will be lots of mountain bike fun to keep more adventurous riders happy with shark's teeth, zigzags and see-saws but don't worry, more sedate riders don't have to tackle the obstacles! 'Parts of the route are not normally open to cyclists so it's a chance to enjoy some of Guernsey's most scenic areas on two wheels,' explains Mark Smith, one of the organisers.

The ride can accommodate up to 900 people and entry is £10.00 per person. The first riders will set off at 9am and start times will be staggered throughout the morning+.

MUG is hoping to make the occasion even bigger than the inaugural event and raise more money to help prevent, treat and raise awareness of male cancers in Guernsey.

'We hope everyone will come together to make the MUG Dominion Bike Ride even better than the first one. We anticipate that the atmosphere will be brilliant and everyone will have a great day. You don't have to be very fit, you don't have to be an expert rider, we urge everyone to come along and have fun,' says Trevor Kelham, founder of MUG. He adds: 'We'd like to thank the ride sponsor Dominion, without their help this ride simply wouldn't happen and to have their support for a second time is very generous.'

The entry form can be downloaded here. Completed entries should be handed in or posted to Ian Brown's Cycle Shop, Les Banques, Guernsey GY1 2HZ or emailed to ian@ianbrowns.net
